Is there any limit with the number of devices connected to Mender (opensource version)

I wonder if there is any defined limit with the number of devices connected to mender (accepted)
Which would be the performance impact if I have more than 1000 devices connected?

Thanks!

Partial answer…

No: https://hub.mender.io/t/how-many-devices-supported-to-deployment-for-mender-the-open-source-version/3036/4

Hi @sd-ricardo

To elaborate a bit more:

  • any arbitrary limitation in a true open source project would be pretty pointless, as everybody would be able to easily remove it. So there is none.
  • the “performance impact” depends on the use case and amount of data you move around. 1000 devices with artifacts in the GB range and polling intervals of single digit seconds will give you headaches. 1000 devices with artifacts in the tens of MB range and polling intervals of hours will probably not be problematic.
  • if you worry about the operations upkeep and maintenance, you might want to look at the Hosted Mender offers.
