Also, I guess the variable could be added to the environment through using the overlay-fs functionality present there with the --overlay 
If using Hosted Mender, will both the connections to hosted.mender.io and to AWS S3 for Artifact storage be proxied through HTTPS_PROXY?
I would assume it to be so.
