You need to create a fork of meta-mender-community which you will then have write access to. You push your changes to a branch of your fork and then use that to submit a PR against the primary meta-mender-community repo. See [this link](https://guides.github.com/activities/forking/) for more details.

(FWIW, the ticket you created in the Toradex community is assigned to me; I just have not had a chance to get to it yet.)
