# Mender artifact signing

If the mender artifact was signed with the wrong key, the mender application executing the states (fetch - install - verification failed - install Retry states) ten times. Is it any configuration to avoid this execution multiple times if the mender artifact signature is not a valid one

Unfortunately at the moment there isn’t. This area could be improved, but Mender doesn’t treat errors differently, so all errors lead to retrying.
