# Is there any solution to remove/uninstall an installed and commited application artifact/update from a Mender-client device?

Hi,

We use Mender as an infrastructure to update our devices. We are looking for an alternative/solution to remove one/some/all of the installed application artifact(s)/update(s) from our device, however, we couldn’t find a reliable solution. We need this for resetting features.

We’ve explored [https://hub.mender.io/t/delete-a-software-installed-with-mender/4274](https://hub.mender.io/t/delete-a-software-installed-with-mender/4274), but it doesn’t work for us. After deleting the contents of `/var/lib/mender/`, all of the artifacts are deleted from our device, but it isn’t possible to make a new deployment, remotely using a Mender server.

Please guide us on how to remove an installed and committed application artifact.
