# Can I upload mender artifact on AWS S3 and mender automatically fetches from s3 and release it?

Is it possible to upload a Mender artifact to AWS S3 and have Mender automatically fetch it from S3 for a release? If yes then how can I configure it?

Hi @vimoxshah,

I’m not sure I understand the question. You want the Mender backend to automagically poll/monitor a specific S3 bucket for new artifacts and then fetch them? No, that’s not possible.

The easiest way is, instead of (or together with) the upload to S3, you can also upload the artifact directly to the backend, both the Mender CLI and API support this flow.

Got it. Could you please clarify where Mender uploads artifacts, specifically which cloud provider and region? If a customer wants to store artifacts in a specific cloud region, how can this be configured?
