# Artifact versioning best practices?

@samlewis maybe [this](https://hub.mender.io/t/howto-mender-artifact-name-automatic-setup-for-yocto-build/468) can help

In this case you can add git tag and then parse it in build script and provide as artifact name. I usually do it this way. Thanks.
